Why Choose Bauer Fly-X Steel?

The steel underneath your skates has a major impact on skating feel, edge quality, balance, and overall confidence on the ice. Bauer Fly-X runners are designed to provide players with a responsive and stable skating experience while offering improved durability compared to entry-level steel.

The taller steel profile allows players to generate:

  • stronger edge angles,
  • tighter turns,
  • improved push-offs,
  • and longer overall steel lifespan over time.

Many players also choose Fly-X runners as an ideal platform for custom profiling due to their consistent steel height and predictable skating feel.

Hyperbolic Geometry Technology

Bauer Fly-X runners feature Bauer’s Hyperbolic Geometry construction, designed to improve how the steel interfaces with the holder.

This design helps create:

  • improved energy transfer,
  • enhanced responsiveness,
  • stronger stability,
  • and a more connected skating feel during explosive skating movements.

Players often notice the biggest benefits during:

  • acceleration,
  • transitions,
  • crossovers,
  • edge work,
  • and tight turns.

Skatescribe Integrated Sharpening & Profiling

At Tydan Blades, every set of Bauer Fly-X runners can be professionally profiled, sharpened, and engraved before shipping.

By utilizing Skatescribe Integrated Sharpening & Profiling technology, profiling and sharpening are performed within the same system to help deliver exceptional accuracy, consistency, and repeatability right from the very first sharpening.

This allows players to experience:

  • more precise profile execution,
  • highly consistent edge quality,
  • improved sharpening accuracy,
  • and a more predictable skating feel immediately on the ice.

For players investing in premium steel, precise setup matters. Proper profiling and sharpening can significantly impact:

  • agility,
  • acceleration,
  • balance,
  • stability,
  • and overall skating performance.

Whether you prefer Power Cut, Quad, 11’, CAG, or custom profile combinations, professional setup helps ensure your runners are optimized for your skating style and preferences before they ever hit the ice.

Great Customer Service

First, the steel itself is good. I got a used set and it's totally fine. Doing that saved me some money. But the most important thing was the free phone call I got to help me with profiling. They asked me a bunch of relevant questions, then gave me a suggestion. The profiling is great. It's very personalized to how I like to skate and feels good on the ice. I also got a set of steel profiled for my 10 year old son, with a bit of a different suggestion, and he likes it as well.

Profile and sharpen

Tyler is the best! Awesome customer service, available to answer any question presented to him, and really good delivery time from service to arrival of the product. Purchased on a Monday and had runners in hand on Thursday in the States.

Atomic K-cut

Got some new wheels and needed an extra set of runners and figured why not get them profiled to the suggested Atomic K-cut. I have tried single, dual, and quad profiles. The first skate with this profile didn't feel awesome, but popped the runners in some vapors instead of supreme and it felt superb the second skate. Definitely going to match my other runners to this profile now.
