Seems to be great but can’t really tell right now as we are in lockdown. Tried once and seems to be great. Can’t wait to get back playing real hockey.
In a direct comparison of Tydan steel vs. Bauer LS5 both my kids hands down prefer Tydan. They play Tier 1 and Juniors and spend a substantial amount of time on the ice. Tydan holds an edge longer, “nick up” less, and reportedly feel firmer and faster on ice. I have had both types of blades sharpened the same amount of times over the course of 2 seasons and the Tydans are simply better, no doubt.
Love the blades. I get a lot more ice time in between sharpening. Thanks
Great steel, very impressed!
Seeing as my son is only 10 asking him to write this would not be ideal.
I had done some research on replacement blades for my son's skates as he likes them very sharp. I contacted Tydan and they suggested the hallow and the profile. I have to say from the moment my kid took 6 strides I could see a difference in the glide and his edges.
He came off the ice and said. "yup these are really good"
I'm happy to say that he has been on the ice for well into 11 hours and I still haven't sharpened them.
I would recommend anyone looking for replacement blades or a upgrade to the stock steel these are great!
Blades felt really good on ice and they had amazing customer service when I had to sort something out. I also really like how you can customize your blades to enhance your performance. Would recommend! :)
I just got my blades and they look awesome! Amazing customer service. I used the chat method and got all the info I needed! They really went above and beyond!
We ordered a set of DiamondEdge Goalie blades the week before Christmas. The company was able to make them (including engraving) and ship them to California with several days left before the holiday. The communication from Tydan was excellent and the follow up on our order was absolutely first rate. The only thing that was better was the blades themselves. They are just remarkable. My first experience buying Tydan blades won't be my last, and Tydan is really doing everything right from start to finish. I can't say enough good things about the company or their products.
replaced my LS2 blades in Bauer Supreme s180 with these beauties. They look great...only blemish (cosmeticaly challenged) noticeable is an extremely small line on the upper part of blade where clicks into skate--so don't even see it anyway when in the skate. Got the recommended profile and sharpening and they arrived 2 days after I ordered. They look awesome and with the rinks on lockdown gave them a quick skate on my pond (outdoor ice). The profile feels really good, but will have to judge the 3/4" sharpening once I get back on the softer indoor ice. I was using a 5/8" sharpen and my LS2 were down to about 10mm due to extra sharpening I had to get done due to losing my edge a few times (knicking boards/skates/etc). These black mirrored beauts are at around 16mm after the profile and sharpening, so the extra height will take a skate to adjust. They do look and feel amazing after my quick skate on the pond though. Will update after I try out at the arena once they re-open. From my experience ordering online, Tydan is top shelf.
My son has skated on Tydan blades for the past two years. A couple of weeks ago one of the tabs broke on the blade and he had to use Bauer blades while we waited for the new Tydan blades. He said there was a noticeable difference in the edges and sharpening. He was so happy when his née blades came!
First off customer service is outstanding. My son loves these blades however I think I love them more. I dont need to go to the shop as much to get them done up, they are also a higher blade so they give him the advantage when sliding. These blades are amazing.
Enough change to make a difference in performance but not to throw me off balance. Felt at home first skate out and any difference I felt has been positive. Amazed on the assessment and how spot on it was with my style. Also had the indirect chance to test out the hardness of the edge with some dings on the post. No burs after.
Sending in my old steel to get reprofiled with the same specs for an emergency backup.
My son thinks Santa picked the perfect profile.
My 13 yr old son bought the Cosmetically Challenged Tydan blades. Size 3 with Cag One 20/35 profile. He likes how they handle as far as turning. He said he doesn’t notice any more glide from no profile with 5/8” hollow to profiled with 3/4” hollow.
I bought two sets of blades and the double runner pouch to keep them protected and safe. Each pair is kept in its own pouch with a separator between the two blades to keep them from touching and rubbing. Very solid and well made and I can write my name on it too!!
Always done right and fast, very professional
Bought the cosmetically challenged blades
I don’t know what made them cosmetically challenged but I can’t see it.
They are awesome
I had my first skate with the new blades this morning and loved them. Joel was great talking me through what I needed and I took his recommendation on the SAM goalie profile. Between that and the improved angle of attack, this 65 year old goalie was able to do things consistently that I've struggled with in the past. Do yourself a favour and get a pair of these blades!
Bought two pairs in the course of 1 month. My kids LOVE them. The service was fast and they are carving edges like never before!
Great advice, best quality steel and super fast shipping
I had completed the online assessment and decided to order my blades. I had a couple of questions and was connected with Joel on the online chat. He is amazing. Very knowledgeable. After a short discussion he advised me to try the SPRYJ as opposed to the SAM profile based on the answers I gave him. His advice on trying the cosmetically challenged blades was very welcomed and I basically got two sets for the price of one. I cannot wait to try these babies on the ice!!
The team at Tydan nailed it! I spent 20 minutes chatting online with a representative about my daughter and what would be the best profile and blades for her.
The next day, the custom blades were ready for me to pick up. My daughter took less than an hour to adapt to the new blades, profile and edge and I have seen improvements within the first few practices.
I got these for my 10 year old son. He easily adjusted to the new hallow and the profile. The blades look almost perfect it’s hard to tell what the “cosmetic damage” is, maybe something will change over time. It was a no brainer to get the DLC for the price of stainless. Will buy again as my son grows and pass down these to my other kids.
Best blades you can buy!
