Skatescribe at Tydan
What is Skatescribe?
Skatescribe is a precision skate blade servicing system that uses laser vision and CNC machining to profile and sharpen hockey skate blades in one integrated process. Its laser vision system measures blade geometry with accuracy up to 0.001 mm, allowing the profile, pitch and hollow to be applied and reproduced without losing the intended blade geometry. The result is unmatched consistency from one sharpening to the next.

How Does Skatescribe Work?
The ISP service, or Integrated Sharpening and Profiling, first measures the existing blade using its laser vision system. Once the system has scanned the blade, the system displays a detailed image of the blades for the Tydan Tech, showing the existing profile, shape, and overall geometry of the blade.
This initial scan allows the system to understand the exact starting geometry of your blades before the Skatescribe begins to remove steel.
The Tydan Tech selects the requested profile, pitch and hollow or loads the player’s existing setup saved in Tydan’s Skatescribe system. These specifications are mapped over the baseline scan, allowing the system to calculate exactly where steel must be removed to set up both runners.
The Skatescribe machining process begins, and the blades are milled while being air cooled throughout the cut. Controlling heat protects the integrity of the steel and avoids heat-related brittleness associated with traditional grinding.
After machining, the Tydan Tech will perform a final quality check and deburr the blades, ensuring an unmatched finish.
Why Use Skatescribe?
Traditional profiling and sharpening can produce a high-quality result when completed by a skilled Tydan Tech. Skatescribe changes how the complete blade setup is measured, applied and maintained.
Service times exclude customer queues and vary based on the blade condition, selected profile and required adjustments.
Why Skatescribe Fits the Tydan Approach
Within the Tydan Approach, Skatescribe turns the selected profile, pitch and hollow into a measurable and repeatable blade setup. Tydan Techs establish the specifications from the player and their complete skate setup, while Skatescribe applies them to both runners, records the result and maintains it through future ISP services.
Once completed, the player’s profile, pitch and hollow are saved in Tydan’s Skatescribe system. The player doesn't need to remember their specifications, as Tydan Techs can load the setup during future ISP services, reproduce it on replacement runners or use it as the baseline for any small, controlled adjustments requested by the player. The result is a custom blade setup built specifically for how they skate.
When Should You Use Skatescribe ISP?
The answer is every time your blades need to be serviced. Standard sharpening renews the hollow but gradually changes the profile and pitch as steel is removed. A Skatescribe ISP maintains the complete blade setup during every service, keeping the profile, pitch and hollow consistent across both runners.
Use Skatescribe ISP when:
-
Establishing a custom blade setup: The selected profile, pitch and hollow are applied together to both runners with unmatched accuracy.
-
Maintaining a proven setup: Every sharpening preserves the blade geometry and specifications the player trusts.
-
Replacing skate steel: The player’s saved setup is reproduced on the new runners instead of starting again with a factory profile.
-
Making a controlled adjustment: The profile, pitch or hollow can be changed individually from the player’s recorded baseline.
-
Correcting profile drift or mismatched runners: Both blades are measured and returned to the same intended specifications.
Skatescribe ISP is for every player who expects their blades to respond consistently each time they step onto the ice. It protects the custom setup built around the player and maintains it through future sharpening, controlled adjustments and replacement runners.
