Recently had my steel profiled, and the entire experience from start to finish completely exceeded my expectations.
Based on Troy’s recommendations, I decided to go with the Skate Scribe Gold profile with a 0.2 forward pitch.
Mind-Blowing Turnaround & Support: First and foremost, the customer service and shipping logistics blew me away. I shipped my steel all the way from Pennsylvania to Canada, and I had the finished product back in my hands within 4-5 days in total. For custom skate work across international borders, that is highly impressive. It is by far one of the absolute best profiling customer service experiences I have ever had in my life.
On-Ice Adjustment & Performance: As for the actual performance on the ice, I am really liking the Skate Scribe Gold profile so far. For context, I am coming from a modified and heavily pitched forward SCS-1 profile (from a different profiler) that was giving me significant issues.
Because I am transitioning from such a radically different, problematic setup, it is definitely going to take some getting used to as my muscle memory recalibrates to the new balance points. Even with the honest adjustment period, the quality of this new Gold profile is obvious. It gives me a highly dynamic, efficient feel on the ice without forcing me excessively over my toes like my previous steel did.

20 year skater decided to make the change over to “profiled” runners. Without naming names or brands, I bought new blades and had them profiled at local shop via foot scan. I didn’t like them one bit. I went back and they re ground the blades and re profiled them with different cut. Better but still off. I filled out the questionnaire at Tydan and had a 10min phone call with Troy and he suggested a resolute 2 grind for me with 1 degree of pitch. Wow! Night a day difference. The edge of the blades are sharpened so smooth the glide is unbelievable. Definitely going to be buying another set.
